Raymarine Pro Ambassador Dawson Lenz named FishLife Collegiate Tour Angler of the Year

This week Raymarine pro ambassador Dawson Lenz earned college fishing’s highest honor by being named the FishLife Collegiate Series Angler of the Year. Lenz, a senior captain at the University of North Alabama, earned the honor after using Raymarine’s a97 and a98 to help lead the Lions’ Bass Fishing club team to first place in FishLife’s Collegiate Tour points title.

During the season’s final competition at Smith Lake in Alabama, Lenz fished for spotted bass at a depth of 40 feet using the CHIRP DownVision™ -equipped a98 to locate fish quickly. According to Lenz, the clarity provided by his Raymarine sonar not only found fish, but also helped him pinpoint where to drop his bait before hooking up.

The FishLife tour, a bass fishing tour for college club teams, consists of six tournaments and teams accumulate points based on the number and weight of fish caught. Lenz’s North Alabama team finished the year with 103 points to take the title.

Congratulations to Dawson and the Lions for a great year!
