FLIR at CES 2020

This week, FLIR is once again exhibiting at Consumer Electronics Show (CES), one of the world’s largest events featuring the latest innovative technologies, to showcase its products and solutions. Specifically, the company is introducing FLIR CITY, a vision to use FLIR intelligent sensing, AI, and cloud solutions to help cities become safer, smarter, and more connected.  Also, FLIR is featuring its FLIR autonomous vehicle for testing thermal technology and for the first time at CES is showing products from its unmanned aerial and ground solutions portfolio, including the FLIR Black Hornet, which recently won Popular Science’s Best of What’s New Award for 2019.

The Future of Brilliant Cities | FLIR CITY

The Future of Brilliant Cities | FLIR CITY

The FLIR CITY is an eco-system of Smart City solutions focused on situational awareness and data-driven operations in the public safety space. Learn how FLIR technology that already exists today can be integrated into city-wide smart solutions, allowing communities to rapidly shape and customize user-specific applications with a central cloud as the core management platform. From roadways, streets, and intersections to buildings, critical infrastructure, and public spaces, FLIR smart sensing solutions are essential technology in the world of Smart City public safety operations.

FLIR CITY

For more than a decade, FLIR has deployed products for traffic, security, and first responders in hundreds of cities around the globe. At CES, FLIR is showcasing several of its current products and solutions that support the public safety aspects within cities. FLIR CITY represents the company’s vision for utilizing connectivity across various security, mobility, transportation, and first-responder sensor products, achieved through sensor integration, data fusion, and intelligence-driven processing and analysis. FLIR CITY illustrates how customers will one day be able to integrate multiple FLIR sensor technologies and products into customized solutions via the FLIR Cloud to help aid situational awareness and data-driven operations in cities.

To help demonstrate FLIR CITY, the company created a virtual reality experience in its booth for CES attendees that will take them on an interactive tour of a city to show the role FLIR sensing solutions will play in cities.

Autonomous Vehicles and Unmanned Solutions

The FLIR commercial test vehicle featuring multiple automotive developer kit (ADK) thermal cameras is another key attraction for FLIR at CES 2020. The car demonstrates our thermal camera’s integration capabilities with radar, LIDAR, and visible cameras found on autonomous test vehicles today.

In related news, earlier today FLIR and ANSYS announced a collaboration to integrate a thermal sensor into ANSYSleading-edge driving simulator to model, test, and validate thermal camera designs within an ultra-realistic virtual world. The new solution will help deliver superior hazard detection capabilities for assisted driving and autonomous vehicles (AVs). Read the press release here.

FLIR is also showcasing several of its unmanned aerial and ground solutions at CES this week. The company will demonstrate two robots designed for public safety, including the man-portable PackBot and the smaller, throwable FirstLook. Additionally, FLIR will show two aerial solutions, the award-winning FLIR Black Hornet Personal Reconnaissance System, and the larger SkyRanger, which can fly up 50 minutes in 65 kph winds.

Each of these unmanned solutions provide first responders with immediate situational awareness, perform persistent observation, and help them investigate dangerous areas while keeping operators out of harm’s way.

Finally, we have a great line up of speakers including Craig Beals, host of the YouTube educational series Invisible Labs, plus other presentations on autonomous vehicle technology and how FLIR and Cisco are working to use technology to fight poaching. See our booth presentation schedule.

If you are unable to attend CES in person, you can also sign up to watch our livestream here.

We hope to see you at CES 2020.
